Modify locations in the Locations page

You can configure location details in the Locations page.

Find a Location

Find your location in the list and click the gear icon. You can use the filters on the right to narrow down the list.

Update Location Details

Under Details, you can can change the name of a location and set its position on the map. You can also configure time zone settings for this location.

By default, new locations are named default- followed by the instrument serial number and appear at In-Situ's headquarters in Fort Collins, CO, USA. If you have VuLink GPS uploads enabled, the VuLink will appear at the most recent GPS coordinates.

Add Projects and Labels

You can add Projects and Labels to make locations easier to find and filter. To create a new project or label, type the information into the field and hit enter.

Modify Location Instruments

Adding or removing instruments from a location will affect any new data that is sent to that location. The data cannot be separated or modified later. Use caution when adding or deleting the instruments for a location.

Each location has an aggregator serial and an instrument serial.

The aggregator serial is the serial number for the telemetry device at that location. For locations without telemetry, the aggregator serial is assigned by the system.

The instrument serial is the instrument that has measured the data. If your telemetry device measures data, such as air temperature or barometric pressure, it will have its own location.

Delete a Location

Deleting a location will delete all existing data for the location. This cannot be undone.

You can delete a location under the Details tab for the location settings.
